Welcome to My Swim A Mile Page!
On October I will be participating in my 23rd Swim A Mile for Women with Cancer, and I hope you'll make a contribution in support of my Swim! I have done this every year since my cancer diagnosis in 1997 because I want to help support other women who have not had the support I have had from my family, friends and medical community. Being a survivor has taught me many things about life and it has opened my to be by best self. My medical practice has become more open and loving, my teaching has allowed me to teach not only about medical interactions but about the importance of how we carry out those interactions and how we support our patients through many unexpected and difficult situations, my community has blossomed with lovely and close relationships that sustain me and hlep me grow and i hope that i have become a more open, loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother because of this as well. My wonderful breast surgeon who is also a swimmer suggested I get into the pool and help raise funds for this wonderful organization; once againKelly, I am a compliant patient! I will let WCRC let you know some important facts about them. Thanks so much for being there for us as we swim again this year!! much love and many blessings, janet and team perlman-blumstein
The Swim A Mile is a fantastic annual fundraiser that benefits the work of the Women's Cancer Resource Center. Since 1986, WCRC has provided programs and a network of supportive services for women with cancer in the Bay Area.
All of WCRC's services are provided 100% free of charge -- thanks to the generosity of donors like you!
All donations are tax-deductible, and make a world of difference to WCRC's clients:
- $25 can buy supplies for WCRC's cultural and healing arts program
- $50 can purchase organic ingredients for its cooking and nutrition program
- $100 can fund a Community Health Advocate in accompanying clients to treatment
- $250 can pay for a comprehensive training for In-Home Support volunteers
- $500 can provide emergency financial assistance for a client with cancer to pay for rent, utilities or groceries
- $1,000 can fund six months of free therapy services
Thanks in advance for your generous donation. It will directly support more than 5,000 people over the next year!
